Gifts That Give Back: Animal Aid Unlimited

12 Dec
One of our favorite places to volunteer is Animal Aid Unlimited in Udaipur, India, a place where animals are protected and revered. Animal Aid Unlimited is a US-based 501(c)3 charitable organization where ownerless street animals are rescued, healed, loved, and returned to the neighborhoods from where they came.
“Animal Aid’s purpose is to both bring relief to suffering animals, and to awaken compassion among people. Showing everyone a path for action is where we begin.”
Right now you can sponsor one of their shelter animals in the name of a loved one for Christmas. The money goes towards food, shelter and medical needs. Up for sponsorship are some of the animals I fell in love with while volunteering there this time last year.  Including Rambo & Tina, two of the gorgeous paralyzed dogs at the hospital.  Please consider donating to Animal Aid as part of your Holiday shopping list!

Gifts That Give Back: Orgs We Love

10 Dec

It’s Week Two of the 31 Days of Giving and we have some ideas to help you give on behalf of yourself and others. That’s right: save the world and complete your Holiday shopping all at once!

Check out some of the organizations we love:

  1. Mercy for Animals: We believe that all animals should be treated with respect and compassion, and so does Mercy for Animals. Farmed animals are some of the most abused animals in the world. Donate to prevent cruelty to these animals and educate consumers as to where their food comes from.
  2. Sea Shepherd: Our friends at Sea Shepherd work to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Their campaigns go further than what you may have seen on Whale Wars, and they need your help to end the slaughter of the beautiful ocean wildlife.
  3. Animal Rescue Corps: Taking direct action to help animals is key. Animal Rescue Corps does this in three ways: they conducts rescues of animals who fall victim to abuse and natural disaster, create public awareness of animal suffering, and offer training and assessments for animal shelters, professionals and volunteers. Your donation will help these inspiring individuals save the lives of countless animals.
  4. Rainforest Alliance: People and the environment can prosper together – that is what the Rainforest Alliance believes. They work to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Not only will your donation protect the beautiful environment, but it will create sustainable livelihoods for those who depend on their forest.
  5. Earth Island Institute: Love the Earth, but you can’t choose one program to donate? Earth Island Institute is a hub for grassroots campaigns dedicated to conserving, preserving, and restoring the ecosystems on which our civilization depends. Your donation will help over 40 projects that are currently under sponsorship.
  6. Oceana: Our oceans are in trouble – Oceana works to restore the oceans of the world to their former levels of abundance. They have defined and measurable outcomes that allow you to know how your donation is helping change the state of our oceans.
  7. More Than Me: Help get Liberian girls off the streets and in schools. More Than Me works with community leaders to identify the girls who are at the highest risk of being sexually exploited to ensure that education and opportunity, not exploitation and poverty, defines their lives. You may not be a parent or educator, but you can help shape the lives of these girls!
  8. Free the Slaves: We posted about modern day slavery, and how it’s still going on all around us. Free the Slaves is dedicated to end slavery worldwide. It CAN happen and your donation will help liberate slaves and change the systems that make slavery possible.
  9. Art Feeds: Art inspires, motivates, and heals. Art Feeds, based in Joplin, MO, is dedicated to the growth and healing of children who have undergone trauma and overcome obstacles faced because of the tornado that destroyed their town. Not only can you help sponsor a variety of art programs, you will help Art Feeds grow across the nation. How cool would it be to have a mobile art program in your community?!

Keep up your random acts of kindness and share your favorite organizations in the comments, on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. We LOVE hearing from you all!

Loving you all, infinitely!
Noelle

31 Days of Giving Part II

28 Nov

I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver. — Maya Angelou

Long before Love Infinitely Project existed or I’d even come up with the symbol, I did this fun “experiment“. It was around this time exactly 3 years ago in 2009. Inspired by the Ellen Show’s 12 Days of Giveaways, I decided to do my own version only extend it to the full month of December. A full thirty-one days.

After that month I decided to try out a full 365 days and my original pre-love infinitely blog, Kindness is Contagious was born. Where I wrote about my experience in giving for a full year. It is no surprise that by that summer I’d dreamed up the Love Infinitely logo and by the end of the year had the idea for the Love Infinitely Project. Within months we launched and here we are today.

Talk about a life changing/transformative experience.

So, I want to do it again, only this time I am going to invite all of you to join me. Starting on December 1st, we here at Love Infinitely are going to start our brand new 31 Days of Giving Challenge. We plan on giving a gift/donation/time to a person(s)/organization daily for 31 days.

It doesn’t have to cost you anything or take up too much extra time. Trust me, the opportunities will come to you. Especially once you decide to take this on. In fact, some of you may realize that you are already giving so much on a daily basis. And some of you may decide that this needs to become a regular part of your every day life. It has become a part of ours.

What I love about doing this challenge at this time of the year is that there are so many opportunities to give. The holidays are the perfect time. It becomes so much fun and allows you to get creative with your giving. Give to those closest to you, co-workers, friends, neighbors, complete strangers, your favorite organizations… Anyone you are inspired to give to.

We’ll also help you along if you are at a loss for what to do. We will be sending out ideas, inspiration, theme days, our favorite causes and more to help you along. Of course, we will also be giving things away all month-long to YOU!

Those of us here will be sharing our adventures in giving and we encourage you to share with us what you are doing. Share with us via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, leave comments here or through email. We will re-tweet, re-post and re-blog all of you as we go along and give you re-caps of everyone’s week in giving.

It is going to be one fantastic month!

Tomorrow we will be posting a bunch of great ideas to get you prepared for the 1st.

Get ready and join us for the ‘31 Days of Giving‘.

Why do YOU volunteer?

23 Sep

We’ve been asking the question lately via our FB, Twitter and Instagram accounts, “Why do YOU volunteer?”

You don’t get paid, in most cases it actually costs money, it can be hard physical labor sometimes but we still love to do it. Why do we continue to do service for our communities and beyond?

Is it the feeling you get? The people you meet? The memories you make?

We want to know YOUR stories!

Email us why you volunteer, include your favorite organizations, if you’ve met your best friends/significant others while volunteering, when you started being of service, what drives you…

Send in your stories to: info@loveinfinitely.org

We’ll be posting them up here on our website every week!
